At our April meeting we had several announcements and upcoming events.
ARTS WALK Spring 2015
This year our quilts will be on display again at Canvas Works in downtown Olympia, WA. Each guild member was given a fat quarter of challenge fabric and asked to create a quilt at least 20" on all sides using only that pattern of fabric and solids. Members be sure to get your quilts to Roberta or Melissa by April 19th. Arts Walk is April 24th & 25th.
SISTERS in Chehalis Sisters quilt shop in Chehalis, WA would like to introduce themselves to our guild. They are opening their shop on April 19th for paid guild members to come and see what they have to offer. Check your email for more info.
Pillowcases for charity
Our current charity project is to create pillowcases. Please bring your completed pillowcases to our May meeting.
Low Volume Charm Swap At our May guild meeting we are doing a low volume charm swap. If you signed up at the April meeting, please bring (54) 5" charms cut out of the same low volume fabric. You will need 1 yard of fabric. Check out our Facebook page to see the patterns others have chosen so you can pick something different.
Elizabeth Hartman Class & Trunk Show
Class and trunk show tickets went on sale at our April meeting. There are still a few spots open and will be open up to other members of the Modern Quilt Guild soon if there are any spots left. Please contact one of our guild board members for more details.
Black to White Challenge
Quilt Knit Stitch has put out a challenge for all Pacific Northwest Modern Quilters. It's a black to white quilt challenge. You can read all the details here, clicky. Ruby Street Quiltworks is offering a discount to South Sound Modern Quilt Guild members on all black-grey-white fabric at our next guild meeting in May. Thank you Ruby Street Quiltworks!
A fun time was had by all at our April guild meeting. We started off with an excellent ice breaker question: "When did you last shop for fabric and how much did you buy?" As always, what happens in the guild, stays in the guild. We were in good company with our answers though.
Members that had completed their Arts Walk Challenge quilts proudly (or not so proudly) showed them off for all to see. Here are just a few of the many fabulous quilts that were shared.
If you would like to see all our quilts on display be sure to stop by Canvas Works in downtown Olympia, WA during Arts Walk, April 24th- 25th, 2015.
The spotlight feature this month was Jody. It's always interesting to see the evolution a quilter takes over the years.
As always, there was sew-n-share time. We love oohing and ahhing over everyone's hard work.
Thank you to everyone who attended the April meeting. If you were not able to make the meeting, check out the South Sound Modern Quilt Guild Facebook page for more pictures and meeting notes.
