Thurston County Fair Is Coming

Thurston County Fair runs Wednesday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug.7. This is a great event for us to spread the word about our guild and modern quilting, and see the great works of other talented artists in the community.

As we've done in the past, we will offer several shifts each day (10-1:30, 1:30-5, 5-8:30) to host our table at Heritage Hall. Before the next MQG meeting (July 6), think about which shift you would like to work, and be prepared to fill in your name on the sign-up sheet passed around that night. Volunteering comes with 1 free admission ticket into the fair!

If you have any challenge quilts, modern quilting books or magazines that we can use at the fair on our display table, please bring them to the July guild meeting or bring them with you when you volunteer for your shift.

We encourage every guild member to consider entering a quilt for exhibit. It's fun, and you don't have to live in Thurston County to enter. Quilts are part of the Open Class Home Arts category. The day/time for turning in quilts for exhibit is Monday, July 25 between 3-7:00. Here's the link to the exhibitor's guide online: http://thurstoncountyfair.org

There's also a Quilt Block Contest. Pick up a packet at Ruby Street Quiltworks if you are interested.

#Quilts For Pulse

If you would like to contribute heart blocks for a quilt sent to Orlando, please follow the tutorial on Cluck, Cluck Sew and make a 10" finished block.http://cluckclucksew.com/…/making-heart-blocks-in-multiple-…
Fabric for blocks should be brights or rainbow (prints or solids). The background fabric should either be a solid white or a low volume print. If you intend to make a block, please post a comment on this post with the block color(s) so we can attempt to balance out our rainbow.
They are asking for quilts to be sent by September 15, so the sooner blocks are received, the better. If possible, it would be fabulous to bring blocks to the July meeting. Thank you so much for your generosity!
And, if you are not an official member of SSMQG, but would still like to make a block, we would be honored for you to contribute.
